“The name “White Heat” was a take on a girl group I met in Seattle in the mid 90’s called “White Hot”.

I was staying with my friend Concave Dave, as I was painting a mural in Dave and Mike D’s record shop on Second Avenue in Seattle. Dave owned a record label and also started a brand called X-NEW with Mike. They would take second-hand clothes and re-label them with X-NEW tags.

While I was painting the store, the girls from “White Hot” would pop by and bust some raps or talk about how they just hit the whole city with “White Hot” tags.

I asked them what’s with the name “White Hot” and they said it was because it doesn’t get any hotter than white! It was a joke but I kind of liked it and so I always used the term when I was thinking of names for an album. I knew I wouldn’t feel right using “White Hot” out of respect for the girls so I decided to go with “White Heat” and the rest is history.”
